Mrs. Alcorta's 9th-grade U.S. History classes had the honor of attending a powerful presentation by Marty Thau, who shared the remarkable story of his Jewish father, Charlie Thau, and his fight for survival during the Holocaust. He survived by joining a small partisan resistance group that fought the Nazis while hiding in the forest for 19 months. Eventually, he joined the Russian Army to continue his struggle against the Nazis during World War II. Marty’s moving account of his father’s experiences not only deepened the students' understanding of this dark chapter in history but also left them with a profound appreciation for the strength and determination required to survive such an incredible hardship.  #Pioneers
