The Westfield Area Middle School and Sixth Grade Bands performed their annual Pops Concert on Tuesday, May 13th in the high school auditorium. The middle school jazz ensemble performed the swing standard "Come Fly With Me," the rock ballad "Come Sail Away," the swing noir standard "Harlem Nocturne," and the 70s soul hit "Mercy, Mercy, Mercy." Featured soloists included Memphis Hinze, Wil Stauffacher, and Mitchell Klingbeil.
The sixth grade beginning band performed four selections: "Great Beginnings" by Michael Kamuf, "The Second Storm" by Robert W. Smith, "Welcome to Jurassic Park" by John Williams, and "GrooVE!" by Matthew R. Putnam, featuring Lyndi Meyer and Harper Patten.
The middle school concert band performed a challenging program consisting of "In a New Light" by Chris Bernotas, "Chasing Sunlight" by Cait Nishimura, the concert tango "The Blue Orchid" by William Owens, the music of "West Side Story," and the latin pop standard "Malaguena."
