Members of the Westfield Area High School Band performed at the Dorian Band Festival at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa on March 1-2.
Students from across the Midwest were nominated by their director and then accepted by the college into one of three bands of differing levels. Placement into the top ensemble, the Symphonic Band, was determined by submitted auditions. Students accepted by audition included Zoey Schroeder, Alyssa Prew, Gabby Ciaroni, and Finn Virch.
Students accepted into the junior-senior group included Sergio Berruecos-Morales and Gabe Akers.
Students accepted into the third ensemble which included freshmen, sophomores, and juniors included Olivia Rehm, Mason Borud, Laly Calleros, and Aida Numsen.
The students had the opportunity to work with Luther College faculty and guest conductors, attend an evening performance by the Luther College Concert Band and Jazz Orchestra, and all of the students in each of the ensembles performed in a Grand Concert for the public.
