The Westfield Area Band Department performed their annual winter concert, including the sixth grade beginning band, middle school concert band, and the high school concert band.
The sixth grade students performed three selections: "Beethoven's Ninth," "Jingle Bones" featuring the trombone and baritone section, and "Blue Note Rock."
The middle school students performed "Joy" by Frank Ticheli, an arrangement of "Be Still, My Soul" by Robert W. Smith, "Alpine Meadow" by Cait Nishimura, and "A Cumbia Christmas" by Jorge Vargas.
The high school performance opened with "Christmas Fanfares" by Todd Stalter, followed by an arrangement of Holst's "In the Bleak Midwinter," "Winter Milky Way" by Yukiko Nishimura, and a medley of music from Tim Burton's "A Nightmare Before Christmas." Senior saxophonist Sergio Berruecos-Morales was featured on the holiday classic "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas." The concert concluded with rousing performances of "Midnight Sleighride" and "We Wish You a Klezmer Christmas"
This concert included 220 Westfield band students from grades 6-12.
