Mrs. Fenske's 1st Grade Class worked on a Rock Investigation last week. They brought in rocks from home and discussed their color, texture, luster, and other interesting qualities.

Students in Mrs. Wagner's Library had the chance to have their voice's heard in an Oreo Election last week - they practiced filling out ballots, dropping their vote into a ballot box, and even getting a fun 'I Voted' sticker!
The winning flavor will be brought in for a snack for all of WES this week.

Attention elementary students and families... Come help make and decorate bowls for the Bowls for Hunger event on Mondays from 3:30-5:30pm.

Westfield Area High School Science Club students partnered with Mrs. Kittleson and Ms. Halverson’s second graders from Westfield Elementary for spooky Halloween Chemistry activities! Students explored science by creating bubbling potions, oozing pumpkins, and eerie lights. #Pioneers

Westfield Elementary PTO wrapped up their Emil's fundraiser and presented each classroom's top seller with a cash prize.

Fourth graders in Mrs. Francis‘s class have been working on writing complete sentences with subjects and predicates. In a recent activity, students worked collaboratively to identify complete sentences and fragments to be complete sentences.

At Westfield Elementary, Mrs. Wagner introduced a monthly recognition program called the Pioneer Library Leaders. Five students a month are chosen based on their passion for reading as well as following the Pioneer Way while in her classroom. September's Pioneer Library Leaders are Liam, Lamont, Emma, Fletch and Bennett. Keep up the great work and keep on reading!

Westfield Elementary recognized the students of the month, library leaders, PE students of the Month, Artists of the Month, and students who completed the summer reading challenge at their assembly last week.

Third grade students in Ms. Manzetti’s class at Westfield Elementary School write in their journals each day. Last Friday’s journal encouraged students to write about their plans for the weekend.

Marquette Adams telephone cooperative donated $250 gift cards to both Oxford Elementary and Westfield Elementary! The 4th grade class at Oxford graciously accepted the donation for both schools!

Students at Westfield Elementary have an opportunity to check out books along with Go Readers. The Go Reader reads the story while the student reads along in the book. This allows students to hear good reading, challenge themselves to read more difficult books with topics that interest them, and enjoy reading more.
