Facility Study Reports

Facility Study

A facility study is an independent, objective analysis of building and site conditions and an evaluation of the capabilities of the facilities to meet educational and community goals.  The facility study is often a critical first step in the planning process, helping the district better understand areas of need and deficiency.  The report may be used to inform plans for ongoing maintenance and as a foundation for future master planning or project phasing.
A facility study is a snapshot in time that represents total project costs inclusive of estimated design, construction, and engineering fees, permits, contingencies, and general conditions.

Educational Adequacy Assessment

The educational adequacy assessment is based on Somerville’s observation and tour of each school building, along with information collected by interviewing building-level administration and staff.  The education adequacy assessment focuses on teaching and learning needs in a modern learning environment.  During our interviews, there were various comments made about the facilities that have been noted in the Facilities Condition Assessment completed by Findorff and NAMI; including concerns about the building finishes (flooring), mechanical (heating and ventilation) systems and windows.
