The Westfield Cross Country team had the privilege to take a couple of field trips recently. A big thank you goes out to Ryan Menke and The Coenen Family of Pine Lake Camp for letting the team come run on their properties. It was refreshing to discover some new trails in the area. #Pioneers

The fish were biting last week with the students catching some really nice bluegills and bass. We even had a snake and a snapping turtle come to see what we were up to. #Pioneers

Students in AP/CAPP Biology partnered with Kindergarteners in Ms. Kind's class and the Ethel Everhard Memorial Library for a science literacy project. High school students were tasked with designing a project to complete with kindergartners based on a science-themed book they selected from the library. While at the library, the high schoolers wrote science jokes and facts on the sidewalk with chalk. Groups chose a variety of different topics for their science book choices ranging from outer space to insects. It was a fun partnership between students at the beginning and the end of their K-12 educational journeys. #Pioneers

This May was the Middle School Student Council’s last visit to Lily Meadows. They enjoyed their last conversations, crafts, games, and laughs. Can’t wait to go back next year! #Pioneers

The Westfield Area Middle School Band performed for the annual Memorial Day Ceremonies in Neshkoro and Coloma. Eighth grade student, Bentley Smalley, performed the trumpet call "Taps" following the 21-gun honor salute to fallen soldiers. #Pioneers

Westfield Middle School 8th graders interested in medical careers had an amazing experience at Gundersen Emplify’s Health Care Career Exploration event on May 8! We were grateful to join students from Adams-Friendship and get hands-on with hospital staff in areas like labs, imaging, diagnostics, physical therapy, and nursing. 💉🩺 Students also learned about high school courses and post-grad pathways that lead to medical careers. Thank you for this incredible opportunity! #CareerExploration #FutureHealthcareHeroes #PioneerPride #Pioneers

The 7th grade students have been hard at work in ELA class on their research projects this spring. Students picked a topic of their choice, researched that topic, wrote a research paper, created a slideshow and crafted a display board. They displayed their research in the cafeteria for the other middle school students, staff, and parents to view. #Pioneers

The Westfield Area Middle School Student Council sponsored its annual fundraiser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in February. They raised over $2,000 by selling gummy bears, ice cream floats, and holding a penny war. They earned a hat and sunglasses day, followed by an assembly where students with $50 donations got to pie a teacher in the face! We also had TikTok dances performed by staff and students, a volleyball match between staff and student council members, and a "Black Swan Ballet" routine starring our own Dr. Steward! Many teachers also participated in the "teach in a tutu" day. Overall, so much fun was had, and all for a good cause. We appreciate everyone who donated and/or participated in some way. #Pioneers

This month, the Middle School Student Council celebrated St. Patrick's Day with some residents of Lily Meadows. They dressed up as leprechauns, played "Whack-a-Naughty Leprechaun," performed an Irish dance, colored spring pictures, and played a dice game. The leprechauns brought lots of smiles, laughs, and middle-school energy to an otherwise drab spring day. It was hard to tell who had more fun the residents or the leprechauns! #Pioneers
