School District of Westfield

5th Grade Students at Westfield Elementary School took a field trip to Brakebush, Bros. While there, students took a live tour through the plant to see how chicken was processed and boxed. They learned how to put on the uniform that each of the workers must wear and found out what each color represented that they saw throughout the plant. They created their own type of chicken, named it, and decided what types of seasonings they would use to make their chicken. Finally, they visited the Research and Development lab where they had cookies, caramel apples, and took part in a "sticky and icky" lab. Students were even able to try some of the chicken for lunch! Next up in the "Cast and Crew Member Spotlight" is Candis! Candis is a Sophomore , and is in the ensemble. Mamma Mia will be her 6th musical. Last year she played as Chip in Beauty and the Beast. Outside of rehearsals, she likes to draw, listen to music, play games, and hang out with friends and family. When asked what her favorite ABBA song is, she answered, "Does Your Mother Know?". Introducing... Eli, the latest member in our "Cast and Crew Member Spotlight"! Eli is a senior this year playing Harry Bright. Mamma Mia is Eli's 5th and final musical here at WAHS. Outside of the musical, Eli loves to play games and hang out with his friends as well as singing in the high school choir. When asked what his favorite ABBA song is, he said, "Thank You For the Music". He would love to thank the cast for being such a fun supportive cast this year and he would love to thank Mrs. Trewin for being such an amazing director over the years. Mamma Mia, here we go again! Westfield Area High School is proud to present their fall musical, "Mamma Mia!", running November 6-8 at 7:00 PM, and November 9 at 1:00 PM. There will also be an understudy performance on Saturday, November 8 at 1:00 PM featuring all understudy performers and K-6 students who participated in our second annual kid's camp! Meet Ellie, the latest member of the "Cast and Crew Member Spotlight"! Ellie is playing the understudy of Donna and is in the ensemble! This is Ellie's 4th musical. Previously she has been in Shrek: the Musical, The Addams Family, and Beauty and the Beast, along with 2 murder mystery plays. Ellie is a second year WSMA state honors participant and is very excited to be able to be a leader both on and off stage this year. She would like to thank all of her friends and family for always supporting her and to all her teachers, both music and not, for lifting her up and rooting for her as well. Last Tuesday, October 7th, select high school choir members traveled to UW-Platteville for their annual choral festival. Students spent the day working with guest conductors to learn 4 songs, and perform them at a concert at the end of the evening. Our students showed outstanding musicianship throughout the day, and were able to work with Westfield alumni Alyssa Joy! Congratulations to all who participated! #Pioneers
