And just like that, first semester is wrapping up! To celebrate, here are a few pictures of the honors events some of our students attended this semester:
Picture one: Back in October, Ben A. and Ellie E. participated at the WSMA State Honors choir, both singing in the Mixed Choir. To get into this ensemble, they auditioned last February with over 400 singers. They attended a week long camp in the summer to learn the music, and performed at the Overture Center at the WSMA State Music Conference. Being selected is an incredible honor, and shows a high level of musicianship and dedication to music.
Picture two: January 11th-12th, Ben A., Eli O., Matthew A., Patrick M., Lydia W., Aida N., and Ella C. attended Dorian Choral at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. During their time at this festival, students sang in a choir of over 900 students learning 4 pieces of music. Several students also participated in mini lessons, competing for a chance to sing their solo at the final concert. Ben A. and Patrick M. were given an honorable mention for their performances!
Picture three: January 16th-17th, Kaliya K., John R., Danielle B., and Serenity C. traveled to Eau Claire to sing in in the Treble and Bass Clef choirs at WCDA. They spent the weekend learning 4-5 songs, and putting on a beautiful final concert Saturday afternoon.

Understanding the Numbers: Why School Funding Matters to Our Kids
Have you ever wondered how our schools are funded—and why budgets feel increasingly tight?
Check out the article, "Who paid for your school?" to provide some much-needed context on the financial landscape our district faces.
The Reality: Due to state funding limits established back in 1993, our district is operating with $3.8 million less this year than we would have if funding had simply kept pace with inflation.
Why this matters:
- It impacts the resources available for our rural students.
- It puts extra pressure on our local community.
- Staying informed allows us to be stronger advocates for the quality education our children deserve.
