Subject: Important Update: District Internet Outage
Dear Families and Staff,
We want to inform you about an ongoing internet outage impacting the School District of Westfield. On Friday, between 11:30 AM and 12:15 PM, our internet service provider, AT&T, reported a failure with the internet circuit that services our district.
Since the outage occurred, we have been in constant contact with the Network Operations Center managing our circuit. The issue has been escalated to the highest level, and AT&T will be dispatching a technician to repair or replace the faulty equipment. We have been assured they are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
Impact on Communication:
This outage may create challenges for incoming phone calls at the elementary school level. If elementary parents experience difficulty connecting via the elementary phone lines, please use the following alternative numbers to reach us:
District Office: 608-296-2107
High School Office: 608-296-2141
We will provide updates as more information becomes available. Thank you for your understanding and patience as we work through this issue.
Respectfully,
Michelle Johnson
District Administrator

Continuing the Season of Gratitude: Thoughts from a few Middle School Students
As we carry the spirit of Thanksgiving into the season ahead, let’s take a moment to reflect on gratitude through the eyes of a few of our 8th-grade students. Their thoughtful words shine a light on the small and big moments that shape their school experiences. Here are some of the heartfelt things they’re thankful for:
“I am thankful for the bus drivers in our district.”
“Something I am most thankful for from all my years in this school district is Mrs. Soper, my first-grade teacher. She helped me a lot to improve my learning and behavioral skills.”
“I’m thankful for school trips. I’ve been on a few, and they were fun. I know it costs a lot to do these, so that makes it more special. I’m also thankful for the bus drivers and the teachers who organize them.”
“I’m thankful for my kindergarten buddy. When I was in 6th grade, I got to help my buddy with things, and it was fun. My friend also got to help me, so I’m thankful for that.”
“I am very thankful for Mrs. Witthun. She is always there for me, and I honestly don’t know what I’d do without her.”
“I’m thankful for my first-grade teacher, Mrs. Fenske. She made school fun and would even help with my hair before school. I’d visit her every morning until the last day of 6th grade.”
“I’m most thankful for our amazing library, the friends I’ve made, and that no matter what type of day I have, I always leave school happy. On my worst day, Mr. Jones saw through my smile and asked if I was okay—really asked—and that meant a lot.”
“I’m thankful for the one time in 5th grade when a teacher noticed I was upset. She didn’t pressure me, just asked if I was okay, and we talked about it. I felt so much better.”
“I’m thankful for my baseball coach last year. He taught me a lot and helped me become a better player overall.”
“I’m thankful for my teachers, the friends I’ve made, and even learning things I didn’t think I could, like opening a locker. The teachers and my friends helped me through the hardest times.”
“In 5th grade, when my grandmother passed away, an aide helped me through it. She gave me a necklace that said, ‘A piece of me will be with you on earth.’ It meant so much to me, and I wear it almost every day.”
Through these reflections, our students remind us of the profound impact kindness, encouragement, and shared experiences can have. From the bus drivers and teachers to friends and school staff, these moments of connection create a supportive and caring community—one we can all be thankful for.
